MISSING OR FAILING TEETH?
Your medical insurance may help pay for dental implants.
Dental insurance rarely covers implants in full. Medical insurance sometimes does—when medical-necessity requirements are met. Prudent Family Dentistry helps you explore the possibility.

START WITH THE PLAN
Request a medical-insurance benefits review.
Tell us the basics. Every plan type can request a review, and you do not need to know whether your plan is a PPO, HMO, or EPO to begin.
A CLEAR PATH FORWARD
Understand the possibilities before treatment.
Medical benefits for dental implants are different from routine dental insurance. Documentation, clinical findings, plan rules, and medical necessity all matter.
- 01Screen your plan
We begin with the insurance company, plan type, and employer connected to the policy.
- 02Discuss your situation
Our team explains what information may be relevant without asking you to send sensitive records through a public form.
- 03Complete an evaluation
Dr. Shin evaluates your oral health, imaging, treatment needs, and whether a medical review may be appropriate.
- 04Review possible benefits
When appropriate, supporting documentation may be assembled for verification or preauthorization.
WHEN A MEDICAL REVIEW MAY MAKE SENSE
Tooth loss with a medical connection.
Medical plans look at why teeth were lost or damaged, not just at the dental work needed. A review may be appropriate when the cause is linked to a documented medical circumstance such as the examples here. Every policy is different, and benefits are never guaranteed.
- Medical conditionsDiabetes, osteoporosis, autoimmune conditions, and other documented diagnoses that affect the teeth, gums, or jaw.
- MedicationsLong-term medications known to cause dry mouth, bone changes, or tooth damage.
- Cancer treatmentRadiation or chemotherapy that affected the mouth, jaw, or ability to keep natural teeth.
- Accident or injuryTrauma to the face or jaw resulting in lost or non-restorable teeth.
- Congenital conditionsTeeth missing or malformed from birth, including conditions treated in childhood.
- Jaw or bone problemsSignificant bone loss or jaw conditions that make conventional dentures unworkable.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Helpful answers before you begin.
Still unsure about something? Call our team and we will be happy to help.
972-306-3282Does medical insurance always cover dental implants?
No. Coverage depends on the individual policy, exclusions, network rules, documentation, and whether the plan’s medical-necessity requirements are met.
Can I request a review with an HMO or EPO?
Yes. PPO, HMO, EPO, and unknown plan types may all request a review. The plan type alone does not determine the outcome.
What happens after I send the form?
A member of our team contacts you by phone or email to talk through your situation and explain what information may be relevant. Nothing sensitive is requested through this page.
What if I am nervous about dental treatment?
Sedation may be available for patients who feel apprehensive about treatment. Dr. Shin can discuss whether it is appropriate for you.
